COURSE PROGRAM

THE BASIC ELEMENTS OF ACTING
What Artistry consists of – practical skills and inner qualities. Development of imagination, associative thinking, effort of will. Development of artistic courage, the ability to concentrate on several objects. Strong Emotional Impulse as the basis of any successful performance.

PUBLIC LONELINESS. STAGE CLAMPING.
The concept of Public Solitude. Stage “clamp.” Immersion in the method. Development of skills of free feeling in a situation of publicity. Muscular freedom – the basic law of organic human behavior in life. Release of muscles, physical clamps and muscular freedom as the first step to an organic existence on stage. To teach students to expend exactly as much muscular energy as it is necessary to perform a particular action.

ATTENTION. INTENTION. FANTASY.
Types of attention. The objects of attention. Choice of an object. A continuum of attention. Formal and creative attention. Attention and scenic attitude. Attention and imagination. COMMUNICATION

ETUDES
This is a basic professional skill. Independent search for an effective line of behavior in the given (invented) circumstances. An effective task and event must be present in the contents of sketches.
Mastering sketch work on the basis of wordless actions.
Exercises on physical action (for the sake of action). Example: Sit, go to the door, say hello to everyone, go to the door and open it, go to the table, pick up an object, return to your place, rearrange your chairs, exchange places with your partner, see what time it is, wipe your face with your handkerchief…

Exercises and simple etudes on physical purposeful action (for something). Examples: sit to rest, hide, eavesdrop, read a book, etc.; open or walk through a door for privacy, hide, hide from an unpleasant encounter, let a friend in, etc.
